Protective Services Training Center’s online baton training course serves as the mandatory pre-requisite portion of the Tactical Baton Certification program, providing students with the critical legal, ethical, and operational knowledge required before participating in hands-on practical exercises. Designed specifically for security professionals, this interactive online training establishes the theoretical foundation necessary for the safe and responsible carry and deployment of defensive impact weapons in real-world security environments.

Students are introduced to the principles of the Use of Force continuum, learning how baton deployment fits within professional security operations and when its use may be legally justified. The course emphasizes proportionality, threat assessment, de-escalation, and the importance of minimizing unnecessary injury during defensive encounters. Participants also gain a detailed understanding of liability, officer responsibilities, and the legal standards governing intermediate force options.
